Buildings identified

3,200 buildings have been identified across the state and all of these will house digital libraries. In subsequent phases, all 6,225 villages will be covered under the project. Devender Singh Babli, Development and Panchayat Minister, Haryana

Inaugurating first such digital library in Dult village of Fatehabad district on Thursday, the Development and Panchayat Minister Devender Singh Babli said the work to establish such libraries has started in the first phase in the state.

“3,200 buildings have been identified across the state and all of them will house digital libraries. In subsequent phases all 6,225 villages will be covered under the project,” he said.

A graduate youth of the village Kuldeep Kumar said presently the students have to go to Bhuna and Hisar for coaching for competitive examinations.

“Such libraries that will be equipped with books, magazines and newspapers, internet facility and digital display board will prove a boon for those who are serious for competitive examinations,” he added.

The youth said the village library has a capacity of 30 seats and they has urged the minister to increase it so that more students can benefit.

Aiming to improve education standards, the minister said the libraries will be equipped with fiber-based internet facility, computers, chairs, tables and other requisite infrastructure.

He also urged the villagers to maintain the libraries as these will benefit the village youth who so far have been lagging behind due to lack of facilities and study material.

Babli said the state government has been focusing to improve education and medical facilities in the rural areas.

The government is preparing a blueprint of the entire state in order to provide city-like facilities in the villages, he added.

“We are planning to set up Sanskriti Bhawans (Culture buildings) in villages where women can sit and exchange their views while doing social and religious activities,” the minister said.
