While emphasising the need to reduce complaints related to encroachments, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhishek Meena has directed officials from the Panchayat Department and Municipal Council (MC) to monitor public land records and the activities taking place on these in both rural and urban areas. He stated that stern action would be taken against anyone found encroaching on government land.

The DC issued the directives while hearing the complaint about encroachments at ‘Samadhan Shivir’ here on Thursday. He also suggested that it would be more effective if the departments fenced off their vacant public lands to prevent illegal occupations. He noted that encroachments often begin with minor acts like tying cattle or storing fodder, which eventually lead to permanent constructions. Such incidents should be prevented proactively.

Meena further stressed the need to improve cleanliness not only in Rewari city but also in the surrounding villages. He also directed the Municipal Council to clean Rezang La Park and the Antyodaya Bhawan.

At the shivir, Jai Prakash, lodged a complaint stating that in 2016, he had deposited money for a EWS (economically weaker section) house in Sector 5, Dharuhera. The scheme was later withdrawn in 2020. Approximately Rs 55,000 remained deposited with Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), but he did not received a refund. The DC directed HSVP’s Estate Officer Virender Kumar to resolve the issue. The officer informed that a refund portal would soon be launched, through which Jai Prakash would receive his money.

Om Prakash, a resident of Vijay Nagar, complained that in Gali No. 14 of his locality, a transformer and electric poles had been installed and some individuals had been using these as cover to illegally occupy space. He requested that these encroachments around the electric poles be removed. Taking a serious note of it, the DC instructed Municipal Council Executive Officer Sandeep Malik to take appropriate action.

The camp also received complaints related to the old-age pension scheme, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, and others, for which instructions were issued to the officials concerned by the Deputy Commissioner to ensure their redressal at the earliest.
