Explainer: Why Panipat district is on alert and what diarrhoea’s got to do with it
9 persons succumbed to disease | Health measures initiated | Water, food sample testing underway
RISING number of diarrhoea patients and nine deaths reported due to suspected contraction of the disease in Panipat has raised tensions in the district administration as well as the Health Department. Taking a serious note over the issue, Health Department officials began a survey of the areas from where cases were reported. They collected samples of potable water and food items selling in the open. As many as 10 deaths have been reported due to suspected diarrhoea in the district so far. However, the health authorities claimed that no outbreak of the disease was reported from any particular area of the district. They said the actual cause of deaths could be ascertained only after analysing the post-mortem reports.
