Panipat, July 7
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said with a new thinking and vision, the state government was benefitting every section of society and helping Haryana attain greater heights of development. He claimed the development work carried out during the tenure of the BJP-led government had surpassed the work done by previous governments in the past 48 years.
No discrimination
The Congress government focussed on the development of only one region and neglected the rest of the state. Now, there is no discrimination and the pace of development has picked up. Nayab Singh Saini, CM
The Chief Minister was here to inaugurate 19 projects worth Rs 36.55 crore and lay the foundation stone of 12 projects costing Rs 191 crore. Additionally, he announced Rs 10 crore each for development works in the Panipat Urban and Rural Assembly constituencies.
Addressing the gathering, CM Saini said in the last 10 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘double-engine sarkar’ in the state had established a system that worked for the welfare of all sections of society and touched newer heights of development.
Stressing the strong infrastructure’s role in uplifting the standard of living and attracting industries and investments, he said: “Haryana maintains an annual economic growth rate of 8 per cent due to its strong infrastructure, compared to the national average of 6.7 per cent.”
He said when the BJP assumed power in the state in 2014, it faced several challenges as the previous government had left a dilapidated economy, a collapsed cooperative structure, and public sector undertakings in losses.
He also accused the Congress government of focussing on the development of only one region and neglecting the rest of the state. However, the pace of development had been accelerated, changing the face of the state without any discrimination, said CM Saini. He also criticised the Congress government over its failure to provide plots to the poor and said the present government had given possession of 100-sq-yd plots to all eligible people.
The CM said to extend the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the government had decided to provide solar systems for free on the roofs of one lakh houses of the poor. The government had given more powers to panchayats to expedite rural development, he said.
Minister of State for Urban Local Bodies Subhash Sudha said to speed up development work, the government had decided if the work did not start within 10 days of tendering, the agency concerned would be blacklisted. The CM had given clear directions that corruption at any level would not be tolerated, and a strict action would be taken if any such complaint was received, said Sudha.
Minister of State for Development and Panchayats Mahipal Dhanda requested the CM to strengthen the drainage system in villages adjacent to cities. Rajya Sabha MP Krishan Lal Panwar, MLA Pramod Vij, BJP’s state general secretary Dr Archna Gupta and others were present on the occasion.
