The Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, under the chairmanship of Faggan Singh Kulaste, conducted a study visit in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

During the visit, discussions were held with Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi and other senior officers of the Haryana Government regarding the socio-economic and educational conditions of Scheduled Castes in Haryana.

The implementation of various Central and state-sponsored schemes for the welfare of Scheduled Castes was discussed during the meeting.

Cases registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, along with enforcement measures were also discussed by the committee. Members of the committee present at the meeting included Anil Firojiya, Mallu Ravi, Pratima Mondal, Arun Kumar, Chandra Shekhar, Alfred Kanngani Arthur, Devendra Pratap Singh, Mithlesh Kumar, Phulo Devi Netam and Jagannath Sarkar.

Senior officers of various state departments were also among the attendees of the meeting.
