The derailment triggered fear as passengers heard a loud noise before realising that a coach had gone off the tracks. “Suddenly, we heard a loud sound and then we realised that a coach of the train had derailed. Everyone was shocked and scared, but thankfully, no one was hurt. Now, we have to continue our journey on foot from here,” said a woman passenger, who had to walk to Nilokheri railway station with her child.

According to initial reports, the derailed coach was dragged for some distance before the train came to a halt. Passengers recounted the frightening moments, with many screaming for help as the train jolted to a stop.

The police quickly arrived at the scene and assisted passengers in reaching Nilokheri railway station, from where they could continue their journeys using alternative transport.

While the exact cause of the derailment is still under investigation, officials suspect a technical fault on the railway tracks may have led to the incident. “The reasons behind the incident are yet to be determined, but it seems that some technical fault on the railway tracks could have caused the incident,” said ASI Sandeep Kumar, incharge of the Nilokheri police post.

Railway engineers and officials rushed to the spot to assess the damage and begin restoration work. One track on the busy Ambala-Delhi rail route was affected, leading to temporary disruptions. Efforts are currently underway to clear the derailed coach and restore normal operations.

“Everyone is safe, and there are no casualties. The exact cause of the derailment is yet to be determined. One track on the Ambala-Delhi rail route has been affected,” said a railway official at the site.

While passengers were relieved that the incident did not result in injuries, many expressed frustration over the disruption and the lack of immediate information from railway authorities.

Railway officials, however, have remained tight-lipped about the incident, stating that a thorough investigation will be conducted to identify the cause and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
