On the call of the Revenue Patwari and Kanungo Association, Haryana, patwaris and kanungos of Karnal district on Thursday staged a dharna in front of the Mini-Secretariat, demanding the issuance of notification regarding the announcement made on January 7, 2025 by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, concerning service conditions of newly appointed patwaris. They have handed over a memorandum for the CM to Teshildar Krishan Kumar.
As per the announcement, the training period of the newly appointed patwaris was to be reduced from one and a half years to one year, the training duration was to be counted as part of the service period, and full pay scale was to be given to the trainees during this period, said Padam Kumar, president of the Karnal Patwari and Kanungo Association.
He said even after 10 months of training, the notification for the announcement has not been issued, causing confusion and dissatisfaction among the newly appointed patwaris. Due to the delay, the trainees have not been granted full pay and no examination papers are being conducted, resulting in uncertainty about their status and progression.
Kumar said despite the clear assurance from the CM, the lack of implementation after 10 months raises serious questions about the efficiency and image of the administration. The association urged the government to issue the notification at the earliest, so that patwaris and kanungos across the state are not compelled to observe a ‘Black Diwali” or go on strike after the festival season.
“We have full faith in the government that our demands will be fulfilled soon,” he added.
