Karnal: The IIT Delhi Alumni Association (IITDAA) in association with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) organised a webinar on “Stubble burning: Status, challenges, and way for forward” under Maha Parivesh series of workshops initiated by Dr Geetanjali Kaushik, Joint Secretary, and Convener, IITDAA. In the president address, Ravindra Kumar, IITDAA, said residents of NCR, Haryana and Punjab suffered each year due to stubble-burning. This was a result of mechanisation of crop harvest which led to generation of greater agro-residue. Dr Vikram Singh, IIT, Delhi, said stubble-burning was a three to four-week activity when paddy straw was burnt. Diwali overlaps with stubble-burning.
