Attacking the government over corruption, Congress leader Ashok Arora today raised the issue of the “corrupt” patwari list, prepared by the Revenue Department, which went viral on social media.

The list had a mention of 370 patwaris and 170 private individuals who are alleged to be middlemen.

“Instead of taking action, the CM stated that he would find out who leaked the list…Patwaris might be appointed in whosoever’s tenure, but they should be nabbed,” said Arora.

“A few years ago, a registry scam had taken place (in the Revenue Department). People were found guilty too but were allowed to go scot-free by this government,” he added.

Taking on the claim of fair recruitment of the BJP government, he alleged corruption in the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC), Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) and Haryana Kaushal Rozgaar Nigam Limited (HKRNL).

“People are losing faith in government institutions. Admissions in government schools and colleges are going down. Polytechnic and BTech colleges are closing down. But queues outside IELTS coaching centres are increasing. Youth are preferring donkey route to go abroad,” he said.

“They were sent back in chains. They are not terrorists,” he added, while talking on the deportation of state youth from the USA.

Lambasting the government over poor education standards, he said that according to the ASER report, Haryana students are poor in division and are behind Punjab and Himachal Pradesh students. He questioned the government over paper leaks of class X and class XII.

He alleged that candidates of Opposition were threatened in the just-concluded local body polls. “The voting percentage is low. It reflects faith in elected representatives,” he said.

On the agriculture front, he said that urea was being diverted to the plywood industry, which created a shortage for farmers.
