People losing faith in govt schools: Hooda
A former CM, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, today claimed that the BJP government wanted to deprive the children of Dalits, backward classes, poor and farmers of every facility and education.
“That is why, leaving aside building new schools, the BJP government is not even providing electricity, water, toilets, and benches to sit in the already established schools,” he said.
He said the poor condition of schools is the reason why parents were losing faith in government schools and the government was gradually handing over the education system to private hands.
“The high court, concerned with the poor condition of schools, had imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on the BJP-JJP government. This was a shameful blow for any government,” he said.
“What has the BJP done to improve the condition of schools, despite being in power for 10 years? As soon as the BJP came to power, it stopped the recruitment of teachers. This government has not recruited even a single JBT in 10 years. Today, the situation is such that 50,000 posts are lying vacant in the education department. The government also makes the teachers appointed in schools leave their teaching work and puts them on duty in markets and fairs, and sometimes in works like making family identity cards,” he said.
“Despite a shortage of facilities and resources, the education department sent back a grant of Rs 10,676 crore to the government without using it. This is the reason why the number of dropout students in government schools is continuously increasing. Within just one year, 4,64,000 students left government schools,” he claimed.
