People offer arghya to setting Sun on Chhath Puja festival

Thousands of Purvanchal residents offered ‘arghya’ and prayed to the Sun on Monday evening to celebrate Chhath Puja. The people celebrated the festival with their family members.

Notably, Panipat is a textile city and over five lakh people from across Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh are living here and working in textile factories. A big number of them are also voters. They have played a big role in deciding the outcome of Panipat Rural constituency, as the maximum people live in the outer colonies.

The people of Purvanchal are celebrating the festival at various places, including NFL ghat on Gohana road, minor canal on Assandh road, canal on Jatal road, Saini Colony, Kutani road, Naraina Delhi parallel canal, two places in Babarpur and on the banks of the Yamuna, in Panipat.

Special arrangements have been made by the Purvanchal people organisations with the support of the district administration at all venues.

The district administration has also made elaborate arrangements at the ghats as thousands of people offer prayers to the Sun in water bodies. SP Bhupender Singh reviewed the arrangements on the ghats.

The police have also diverted the traffic due to the Chhath festival in the district.
