Continuing his fiery stance, Rao Narbir has warned the BJP against fielding incumbent MLAs or defeated leaders of previous Assembly elections otherwise it will be wiped off in south Haryana.

A former Minister, Narbir enjoys a strong voter support in Badshahpur constituency. He was denied ticket from the BJP in 2019. In no mood to leave it to party now, Narbir has already announced he would be contesting with or without the BJP. He has been conducting rallies and public meetings, and it was in one of these that he warned his own party of changing trends.

“The party should not think people are voting for the BJP or there is some wave. Had that been the case, they would have easily won from Badshahpur in 2019 . It’s the candidate which matters here. People will vote for Narbir and not the party. It’s not just the case here. If the party doesn’t change its cadidates — the incumbent MLAs or the ones who lost in 2019 — it will be wiped off from south Haryana,” said Narbir.

Interestingly, Narbir said Rao Abhay Singh, the MLA from Nangal Chaudhry and Haryana minister, was the only winnable candidate that can be repeated. “The BJP is getting on ground surveys done to analyse the situation and finalise the candidate. This is my experience and survey. If they repeat anybody except Rao Abhay, they will be cleared out from segments ranging from Nangal Chaudhary to Hodal. They need to catch the pulse of the voter,” he added.

Narbir said: “It’s a hard truth that anti-incumbency is there. Voters will look at who will be available to them and work for their development and vote for him or her. They will not see the party. With time, Haryana politics is getting more candidate specific. The party needs to wake up to the fact and see who does the voter want . This is only way we can win.”

Narbir has been in political limelight ever since he announced his plans to contest the elections. Right from targeting civic officials to calling out his own government for civic mess in Gurugram, he has been playing on the front foot and establishing his supremacy. Sources claim that the Congress is in touch with Narbir as he has strong prospects.
