Physical verification expedited in Yamunanagar rice mills
3 FIRs against couple for 'embezzlement' in allotted paddy
The physical verification of all 182 rice mills in the district has been expedited. So far, the verification of paddy and rice stock has been completed in 125 mills.
As per information, the District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and HAFED got three FIRs registered in November against a couple after shortage of allotted paddy stock was detected in their seven mills.
Four teams have been formed for the verification and officers and employees from other districts have also been included in the teams to examine stock, pre-stock, transportation records and other related records.
After the completion of verification, the inspection report will be sent to the district administration and the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department for further action.
As per record of the District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Controller, 6,75,384 MT of paddy was procured in the 13 grain markets of the district until November 15 (the last day of procurement). Last year, 6,09,166 MT had been purchased.
Farmer leader Satpal Kaushik alleged that it was a huge scam and should be probed by the CBI and strict action should be taken against those guilty.
Jatin Mittal, District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Controller, said the physical verification of paddy and rice stock had been going in the mills since November 10. “The physical verification work of about 70% of the mills has so far been completed in the district,” said Mittal.
FIRs had been registered against the couple for committing embezzlement in paddy allotted to their rice mills by government agencies. “I have written to the Deputy Commissioner, requesting him to attach their properties,” he added.
