Plantation drive at Yamunanagar college

Yamunanagar: NCC Cadets of Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar, organised a tree plantation drive on campus. Each cadet planted one sapling and pledged to nurture it. The drive was presided over by Commanding Officer Colonel Jarnail Singh and officiating principal Dr Anil Dhawan. NCC officer Major Dr Shri Parkash and Caption Mamta Oberoi organised the drive, which was followed by a rally on global warming. Principal Dhawan congratulated the NCC officers and cadets for the successful organisation of the event.

Students selected for PhD

Hisar: Students of the physics department of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, have been selected for PhD programmes in various universities of the United States of America.

Muskan Sharma has been selected for PhD research work at the University of Tennessee on a scholarship of Rs 2 lakh per month, Sukriti and Divya have been selected for PhD research work at the University of Albany on a scholarship of approximately Rs 1.6 lakh per month and Sweety Kakkar has been selected for research work at Mississippi State University on a scholarship of Rs 1.42 lakh per month. Another student of the department, Vijayshree, has been selected for MTech Applied Optics programme at IIT Delhi on a scholarship of Rs 12,000 per month. Vice-Chancellor Professor Narsiram Bishnoi congratulated all the teachers and students of the department on the achievement. He said the achievement of students was inspirational for the students of the district and state. Registrar Professor Vinod Chhokar congratulated the students on the achievement.

New admission policy at tech varsity

Hisar: Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, has implemented the notification issued by the state government regarding changes in the creamy layer for reservation of backward classes in admissions to services and educational institutions in the state. Vice-Chancellor Professor Narsiram Bishnoi said the admission process for various courses was underway. The students of backward classes will be given the benefit of the new rule immediately. Additionally, the benefit of this rule will also be given to the stakeholders concerned in the services of the university.
