Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 11 railway stations, including nine railway stations in Haryana and two in Rajasthan in the Bikaner Division of the North Western Railways, through videoconferencing today.

Stations to get facelift

A Bikaner Railway Division spokesperson said the redevelopment works of Rs 147.71 crore at Charkhi Dadri, Kosli, Mandi Dabwali, Mahendragarh, Loharu, Mandi Adampur, Hansi, Kalanwali and Bhattu stations in Haryana besides Gogamedi and Raisinghnagar railway stations in Rajasthan of Bikaner division started following the foundation stone-laying ceremony on Monday

The PM also laid the foundation stone of another 11 railway projects and construction of railway overbridge and railway underbridge works at 11 level crossings in the Bikaner Railway Division. All these works will be carried out under the Amrit Station Scheme.

A Bikaner Railway Division spokesperson said the redevelopment works of Rs 147.71 crore at Charkhi Dadri, Kosli, Mandi Dabwali, Mahendragarh, Loharu, Mandi Adampur, Hansi, Kalanwali and Bhattu stations in Haryana, besides Gogamedi and Raisinghnagar railway stations in Rajasthan in the Bikaner division, started following the foundation stone-laying ceremony today. It includes redevelopment of nine railway stations worth Rs 125 crore in Haryana. Besides, the work of construction of ROB/RUB on 11 railway crossings at an estimated cost of Rs 227.07 crore also started on the Rewari-Bathinda, Bikaner-Bathinda and Bikaner-Rewari railway sections.

Hisar BJP MP Brijendra Singh, who attended the ceremony at the Hansi railway station today, said Rs 16.19 crore would be spent on redeveloping the railway station, which has been rechristened ‘Hansi Junction’ after the start of the Hansi-Meham Rohtak railway line.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Singh said

Rs 2,900 crore would be spent on strengthening the railway infrastructure in Haryana. He said state-of-the-art facilities would be provided at all these railway stations on the lines of railway stations in developed countries. The MP said under the long-term vision, master plans had been set up and were being executed in a phased manner at various stations. The facilities willinclude developing waiting areas, toilet facilities, installation of lifts and escalators, better sanitary conditions, offering free Wi-Fi service, setting up kiosks for local products, enhancing passenger-information systems, establishing executive lounges, designating spaces for business meetings, incorporating landscaping and catering to the unique requirements of each station, he added.

In Fatehabad district, Haryana Seed Development Corporation Director Manoj Babli attended the function at the Jamalpur Shaikhan railway station. A railway overbridge will be constructed at the station in Fatehabad district. Babli said the construction of this 800-metre long and 10-metre wide railway overbridge will cost about Rs 34 crore. “The ROB will provide relief to the public from the jams at the level crossing. About Rs 12 crore will be spent by the Railways and remaining Rs 22 crore will be spent by the PWD (Building and Road) on the construction of this ROB,” he said.
