Police close RJ Simran’s suicide case, fans call for deeper probe
The tragic death of 26-year-old RJ and social media influencer Simran Singh, known as ‘Jammu Ki Dhadkan,’ has left her fans in disbelief. While the Gurugram police have concluded their investigation, deeming it a case of suicide, many of her followers suspect foul play.
According to the police, Simran was found hanging in her rented house in Sector 47, Gurugram. The postmortem confirmed the cause of death as hanging, and her family stated in a written declaration that she had been troubled for some time, leading to her decision to take her own life. No complaints or accusations were made by the family, prompting the police to close the case.
Inspector Sunil Kumar, SHO of Sadar police station, said: "The family did not hold anyone responsible and requested no further action. Based on the family’s statement and the postmortem report, the case has been closed."
However, Simran’s fans, who admired her for her vibrant and positive persona, find it difficult to believe she would take such a step. Her last Instagram post, dated December 13, featured her dancing on a beach with the caption, "Just a girl on the beach with endless giggles and her gown." The stark contrast between her joyous demeanour online and the tragic news has left many followers questioning the circumstances of her death.
Fans have flooded her Instagram page with comments expressing suspicion.
One user wrote, "She was so confident and happy. How can someone like her commit suicide without leaving any note? This feels like murder."
Another commented, "If she was depressed, she wouldn’t have been posting videos. This needs further investigation."
Simran, originally from Jammu and Kashmir, had a following of 682K on Instagram and was popular for her cheerful videos and radio shows. After leaving her RJ job, she transitioned to freelancing and ran a successful YouTube channel.
Her death has left a void in the lives of her fans and sparked calls for a more thorough investigation, with many hoping for clarity and justice.
