Some good news for the residents of Rohtak. The residents whose cash, jewellery and other expensive articles have been stolen or looted will not have to make the rounds of courts to claim their belongings.

With a view to facilitate such residents, the Rohtak police has started a special drive to hand over the recovered case property to its owners by filing suo motu applications in courts.

The residents who will be benefited by the move are victims of burglary, theft, dacoity, robbery, loot or cyber frauds, etc. “The underlying idea behind the exercise is to save time, money and energy of residents who have already suffered losses,” said Rohtak SP Himanshu Garg.

So far, Rs 26 lakh in cash, apart from gold and silver ornaments and other valuables, recovered from the possession of the accused in 10 such cases have been handed over to the victims after obtaining release orders from the courts, he stated.

“By virtue of this exercise, the victims will not have to face any harassment or procedural delays in getting back their belongings from the police, nor do they have to hire their own lawyers for the purpose,” maintained Garg.
