City traffic police on Friday launched a special checking drive on the Civil Hospital road following frequent traffic jams caused by private and state-run buses stopping outside the hospital’s main gate. Police issued challans to six buses for halting away from the designated bus stop, violating traffic rules and inconveniencing passengers. Officers also checked documents of private bus drivers and conductors and fined those who were not in proper uniform.
Traffic SHO Pradeep Sheoran said continuous special drives are being conducted to ease congestion in the city. He noted that buses stopping outside the Civil Hospital create serious traffic bottlenecks and the area will remain under strict surveillance.
Police teams also inspected Sadar Bazaar, Rori Bazaar and Hisaria Bazaar. Shopkeepers were instructed to immediately remove encroachments outside their shops. Authorities warned that if violations persist, a large-scale clearance drive will be undertaken next week with support from the traders’ association.
The traffic police said ensuring smooth movement on city roads remains a priority and strict action will continue against anyone violating traffic norms.
