The Gurugram cyber police successfully froze Rs 13.70 lakh defrauded amount in a case of cyber fraud. Out of the defrauded amount, Rs 4 lakh were returned to the victim’s account by the police.

According to the complaint, the victim received a call on July 16. The caller claimed he was an official from the post office and one of the victim’s couriers had been caught carrying fake passports and drugs. He transferred the call to someone else, who introduced himself as a cop from the Delhi Police. The callers threatened the victim of arresting him in a money laundering case and defrauded him of Rs 13.70 lakh.

An FIR was registered and the police collected information about the bank account to which the money was transferred by the fraudsters. “With technical assistance, 100 per cent of the defrauded amount was frozen on time and Rs 4 lakh has been deposited to the victim’s account,” said Priyanshu Dewan, ACP cyber.
