Police Martyrs’ Day was observed with solemn respect at the Police Lines in Karnal and Kaithal, where heartfelt tributes were paid to the brave officers who laid down their lives while on duty. Officers and police personnel gathered at the Police Memorials to lay floral tributes and observe a moment of silence in memory of the fallen heroes.

At the Karnal Police Lines, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Karnal Range, Dr M Ravi Kiran addressed the gathering and said the day stands as a lasting source of inspiration for the entire police force. He recalled that on October 21, 1959, a small patrol unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) stationed at Hot Springs in Ladakh was ambushed by Chinese troops. Ten valiant CRPF personnel made the supreme sacrifice while defending the nation’s borders. “Their courage and commitment to duty remind us of the highest ideals of service and sacrifice,” he said.

A similar event was held at the Police Lines in Kaithal, where Superintendent of Police Upasana paid homage to police martyrs. She urged everyone to draw inspiration from the ultimate sacrifices made for the unity, integrity and security of the nation. Tributes were paid to Kaithal’s valiant martyrs — Ram Singh of Jajanpur (1989), Kripal Singh of Harigarh Kingan (1992), Gulzar Singh of Habri, Head Constable Vijay Kumar (who died during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020) and SPO Dalbir Singh of Rajni Colony, Kaithal (martyred during the pandemic in 2021). Their families were honoured at the event.

“Police Martyrs’ Day is not an ordinary day — it symbolises sacrifice, devotion and unmatched courage. We are proud of those immortal heroes whose bravery has secured our borders and preserved internal peace,” she said. She urged police personnel to uphold the legacy of courage and commitment demonstrated by the martyrs and to continue safeguarding the nation with unwavering dedication.
