Police party attacked during narcotics raid in Taraori, sub-inspector injured

A sub-inspector sustained serious injuries after he along with his team members were attacked when they went to a house in Taraori to raid in search of narcotics on Wednesday night.

As per police officials, a team of Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) conducted a raid at a house suspected to be involved in drug-related activities. However, as the police party entered the premises, a group of people, including the family members, relatives allegedly attacked them with sticks and sharp-edged weapons. In the scuffle, Sub-Inspector Rohtash sustained multiple injuries. As per the information, the police had to fire in air to save the sub-inspector.

He was immediately shifted to the government hospital and later shifted to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment at present.

The attackers reportedly created hurdles to prevent the police from discharging their official duties.

The Taraori police registered a case against accused Randhir, Mukesh, Gautam, Naresh, and others including five to six women under relevant sections, including attempt to murder and obstructing government officials from performing their duty.

Soon after the incident, the accused fled the scene. Multiple police teams launched a combing operation across the area. Some suspects have already been detained for questioning, the officials confirmed.

Sub-Inspector Karambir of Taraori police said, “We have registered a case for attempt to murder and for creating obstacles in the way of government officials on duty and further investigation is underway.”
