The Gurugram traffic police issued an order on Thursday stating that vehicles with outstanding challans will be detained if the fines are not paid within 90 days. This decision was announced following a meeting with traffic police officials, led by DCP (Traffic) Virender Vij.

During the meeting, DCP Vij emphasised the importance of educating drivers about the new policy. He informed that any driver who receives a challan for violating traffic rules is required to pay the fine within 90 days.

“During re-checking, if challan payment is found outstanding even after a period of 90 days, then that vehicle can be detained under Section 167(8) of the Motor Vehicles Act. The last date for payment of pending challans is February 10,” said Vij.
