A high-level state-level review meeting was held today under the chairmanship of DGP Shatrujeet Kapur to discuss prevention of violent crimes, monitoring of terror activities, strategy for drug-free Haryana campaign, action against illegal immigration, control of vehicle theft, and effective implementation of new criminal laws.

Kapur emphasised that preventing road accidents should be a top priority for the police. He instructed officers to identify the root causes of accidents and take steps for their prevention. Illegal road cuts that often lead to fatal accidents must be closed. Strict action must be ensured against those driving under the influence of alcohol or speeding.

Describing motor vehicle theft as a challenge, he said special teams should be formed to strengthen surveillance and review mechanisms. Criminals should be identified, and swift action must be taken to enable effective control over gang-based crimes. He further said officers should study the pattern of vehicle theft by criminals and make efforts to increase recovery rates.

Kapur said vigilance should be maintained in border districts, and CCTV cameras installed at public places must remain functional.

Training was the key to effective policing. Regular training should be conducted in all districts on weapons handling, control techniques, and real-life scenarios, he said, emphasising the formation of SWAT teams in each district.

On illegal immigration cases, he directed officers to ensure legal action against the accused and maximise financial restitution to the victims.

OP Singh, chief of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau, called for the intensification of sports activities to keep youth away from drugs. He said this year the goal was to engage at least 10,000 youth per district in sports and declare 70% of villages and wards drug-free.
