In a decisive move to ensure credible and standardised recruitment, the Haryana Government has notified a policy for recruitment to Group C and D posts through the Common Eligibility Test (CET). The policy aims to simplify the recruitment process for direct government employment, with the test being conducted as per the government’s discretion.

According to the notification issued by Chief Secretary Vivek Joshi, the policy will apply to direct recruitment for Group C posts, including police, prisons and home guards, except teaching posts and ex-Agniveer positions. It will also cover Group D posts with a minimum educational qualification below matriculation under the Haryana Group D Employees (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2018.

The minimum qualification for Group C posts is set at 10 2 or matric with additional qualifications. For Group D posts, the requirement is matric, with Hindi or Sanskrit as a compulsory subject. The CET syllabus will have two components: a) 75% weightage: General Awareness, Reasoning, Quantitative Ability, English, Hindi and Computer Knowledge (for Group C) and b) 25% weightage: History, Current Affairs, Literature, Geography, Environment and Culture of Haryana.

The question paper will match the educational level of the posts, with Group C exams at the senior secondary level and Group D exams at the secondary level.

Applicants must register on the designated portal —onetimeregn.haryana.gov.in — by the advertised deadline, providing personal details and required documents. The Parivar Pehchan Number will enable verification of applicants’ residence, educational qualifications, caste, family income/assets and other claims. Alternative registration options include Aadhaar or other documentation specified by the government.

“There shall be no restriction on the number of attempts for the CET,” the notification states. General category applicants must secure at least 50% marks, while reserved categories receive a 10% concession, lowering their cutoff to 40%. Candidates scoring below the cutoff must reappear in subsequent tests.

This policy reflects Haryana’s commitment to transparent and efficient recruitment for government posts.
