Political activity picks up in Rohtak as BJP, Congress mobilise workers

Rohtak, January 15
The recent three-day visit of BJP’s state incharge Biplab Kumar Deb and the booth workers’ meeting of the Congress party by Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda have raised the political temperature in Rohtak ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
During his visit, Deb not only addressed public meetings in three villages, including Deepender’s native village Sanghi, but also spent time with party workers besides receiving their feedback about the prevailing political scenario in the Rohtak constituency.
While gearing up for the Lok Sabha poll, Deepender held a meeting of the party booth workers and also tasked them to add at least 100 votes more in each booth to the votes polled to him in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Giving them the mantra of victory, the MP also called on them to start making election preparations on a war footing and manage their booths, till the voting took place.
“It is for sure that this time, too, I will be on the target of all BJP leaders like the previous 2019 elections. Some BJP ministers, during a Lok Sabha session, have also warned me about it, so we will have to work carefully for defeating the BJP this time,” Deepender cautioned the workers.
He also shared his pain of defeat with the workers stating that the BJP government used ‘saam-daam-dand-bhed’ in the 2019 Lok Sabha poll. Notably, Deepender lost the Lok Sabha poll from Rohtak by a margin of around 7,500 votes at the hand of BJP nominee Arvind Sharma.
“By holding the first booth workers’ meeting, Deepender has not only virtually begun his poll campaign in Rohtak for the Lok Sabha poll but also given a clear message to the party workers to get into the poll mode immediately,” said a local Congress leader.
He said since the party had now changed its gear in view of the Lok Sabha elections so the campaign-related activities would gain pace in the coming days as the stake was high for the Congress in Rohtak being the stronghold of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
“All Lok Sabha seats are equally important but the recent visit of Biplab Dev has indeed boost the morale of the party workers and leaders. He not only addressed three public meetings at Sanghi, Chamaria and Farmana villages during the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra but also interacted with the party workers/ leaders,” said Ajay Bansal, cashier of the state BJP.
