Political leaders hold multiple events in a day to strengthen party base
As the byelection of the mayoral post of Ambala Municipal Corporation is drawing closer, candidates of the BJP and the Congress have intensified their campaigning in Ambala City.
Along with the candidates, party leaders and their supporters are also holding multiple programmes in a day to strengthen the party’s base in the mayoral election. Since only a term of just 10 months in pending, except the BJP and Congress candidates, no other party and Independent candidates are in fray for the mayoral post.
Meanwhile, from holding public meetings to attending social events and tea meetings, and inducting new members in the party, the candidates and party leaders are leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters and make their presence felt in different wards of the Municipal Corporation.
While the BJP is banking on works done and its government at the Centre and the state has been asking the voters to elect the BJP Mayor to ensure smooth development works, the Congress has been raising the issues of corruption, no dues certificate (NDC), Property ID, sanitation and other public issues.
Congress Candidate Amisha Chawla, who has been holding door-to-door campaigns, said, “There has been a BJP government for the last 10 years and we all have seen how the general public was harassed in the name of NDC, property ID, and other issues related to corporation. The roads are in poor condition and the sanitation conditions are also bad. Due to the closure of the Shambhu border, local traders and businessmen have been suffering heavy losses over the last one year. It shows how serious the BJP government is about the plight of Ambala’s business community.”
“Though, just about 10-month tenure is left, if given an opportunity, we will try to put things in the right place and the residents would not have to make repeated rounds to get their work done. We have been getting a good response from the people and we are confident that like the Assembly election, the voters will again vote for the Congress in the mayoral election”, she added.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate Shailja Sachdeva, said, “We have been getting tremendous support from all sections of society. The BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to ensuring development of all sectors. Working with the spirit of ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’, will ensure equal development works in all wards. We are ensuring the people that the public works will be carried out on priority and they would not have to wait to get their work done. Impressed with the policies of the party, people from various sections have been joining the BJP and it will further strengthen the party’s base in Ambala.”
