In light of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) enacted ahead of the Assembly elections, scheduled for October 1, the Municipal Corporation (MC) of Gurugram has launched a special campaign to remove hoardings, banners, stickers and wall paintings of political parties from public places, including main roads, internal roads and lanes.
Presiding over a meeting of civic body officials, MC Additional Commissioner and Nodal Officer for the implementation of poll code in the ensuing elections Balpreet Singh said compliance with the MCC would be ensured seriously.
He asked the officials present at the meeting to ensure that all political publicity material is removed from public places on priority.
He said if political propaganda material was found on autorickshaws or other vehicles, FIRs would be registered against the owners and the vehicles would be confiscated by the police.
He instructed officials of the regional transport authority to ensure that all promotional material on autorickshaws and other vehicles in the district is removed in the next 2-3 days.
