Polling passes off peacefully in Mahendragarh
The polling for the municipal committee’s elections in Ateli and Kanina towns in the district passed off peacefully on Sunday.
Around 73.7 per cent voter turnout was recorded in Ateli while 80 per cent voters exercised their franchise in Kanina.
Besides, top posts at both civic bodies, elections were conducted for 14 posts of councillors in Kanina and 12 in Ateli.
Deputy Commissioner Vivek Bharti visited polling stations to monitor the process. Superintendent of Police Pooja Vashisht conducted surprise inspections at polling booths. Adequate force was deployed at all booths to maintain law and order.
The District Red Cross Committee made provisions to assist disabled electors in reaching polling stations. The volunteers were stationed at all polling centres with wheelchairs.
