Tightening its noose on violators, the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) here has issued show-cause notices to 67 industrial units in Yamunanagar district.
Non-renewal of CTO certificate
- The notices have been served under the provisions of the Water Act, 1974, and Air Act, 1981, over non-renewal of the consent to operate (CTO) certificate before the expiry date
- This is a violation of the terms and conditions laid down by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board
The notices have been issued under the provisions of the Water Act, 1974, and Air Act, 1981, over non-renewal of the consent to operate (CTO) certificate before the expiry date. This is a violation of the terms and conditions laid down by the HSPCB.
According to information, industrial units in the district, including plywood factories, food and beverage industries, brick kilns, stone crushers and screening plants, were recently inspected by field officials of the board.
The officials found that owners of 67 industrial units had failed to get the CTO certificate renewed. These units were found non-operational at the time of the inspection.
Diksha Pandey, Scientist-B at HSPCB, said the inspections were conducted at the units whose CTO certificate had expired. She said during the inspection, it was found that those units were non-operational.
“Virender Singh Punia, Regional Officer of HSPCB, has directed the owners of these units not to proceed with the operation without obtaining prior permission from the HSPCB,” said Pandey.
