The regional office of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has issued a notice to Ecogreen, the private company handling disposal of solid waste in the city, on behalf on the municipal corporation. The company has been asked to submit its reply in two weeks over irregularities in disposal of waste.
Giving this information, JB Sharma, Regional Officer and Nodal Officer of the HSPCB, said the company was asked why penalty should not be imposed on it for not properly disposing of garbage. A large number of complaints had surfaced in the recent past.
Residents had taken up the issue of garbage piling up and delay in disposal, leading to an adverse impact on the environment due to smoke and dust. There had been reports that garbage lying in the open was being set on fire.

Sharma said Graded Response Action Plan, implemented over two weeks ago, was still in place as any decision regarding extension depended on the EPCA, appointed by the Supreme Court.
Expressing concern over continuation of the measures on non-PNG industrial units, Col (retd) S Kapoor of the Faridabad Industries Association said production in hundreds of units had been lying halted for the past 18 days and relief did not seem to be in the offing for the next few days.
