The regional office of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has issued a notice to Ecogreen, a private company handling disposal of solid waste in the city, on behalf on the municipal corporation. The company has been asked to submit its reply in two weeks over irregularities in disposal of waste.
JB Sharma, Regional Officer and Nodal Officer of the HSPCB, said the company was asked why it should not be penalised for not properly disposing of garbage. Residents had taken up the issue of garbage piling up and delay in disposal. There had been reports that garbage lying in the open was being set on fire.
Ravi Trivedi, an Ecogreen official, said no notice had been received so far and there was no laxity on the part of the company. Sharma said Graded Response Action Plan, implemented over two weeks ago, was still in place as any decision regarding extension depended on the EPCA appointed by the SC.
Concerned over continuation of the measures on non-PNG industrial units, Col S Kapoor (retd) of the Faridabad Industries Association said production in hundreds of units had been halted for 18 days and there seemed to be no relief in sight.
