Pollution control board seals plant for indulging in illegal mining activities

Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB), Yamunanagar, has sealed a screening plant as the owners of the said screening plant were allegedly found indulging in illegal mining activities.

As per available information, the authorities of the HSPCB, Yamunanagar received a letter from the Mines and Geology Department in September 2024 regarding procurement of illegal mining material by M/S Yamuna Screening Plant, situated in Belgarh village of Yamunanagar district.

As per the letter of the Mining Department, the unit never informed the Mining Department regarding the said purchase of the mining mineral.

The letter reads that therefore, the said screening plant was in operation in non-compliance of rules and in violation of consent to operate granted under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981 and under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974.

Abhijeet Singh Tanwar, Assistant Environment Engineer (AEE), Yamunanagar, said the Chairman of the HSPCB, P Raghavendra Rao, had recently issued an order to close down the operation of the said unit by sealing its plant, machinery, DG set, disconnection of the electric supply and water supply of the unit.

“Implementing the order of the chairman of the HSPCB, M/S Yamuna Screening Plant, Bailgarh was sealed by us,” said Tanwar
