Poonam, 'jealous' Haryana woman, murdered son to avoid suspicion: Chilling details of killing 3 girls

A 32-year-old woman from Haryana, identified as Poonam, has been arrested for allegedly murdering three girls and her own 3-year-old son over the past two years.

The case surfaced after the death of a six-year-old girl, Vidhi, during a wedding in Naultha village, Panipat.

Vidhi was found drowned in a plastic tub, and police investigation led to Poonam’s arrest.

During questioning, Poonam allegedly confessed to three earlier murders:

Her sister-in-law’s nine-year-old daughter in Bhawar (2023)

Her own 3-year-old son, Shubham, to avoid suspicion

Her cousin’s six-year-old daughter in Sewah (August 2025)

The modus operandi in all cases was similar: drowning the victims in water-filled tubs or tanks.

All previous deaths were initially believed to be accidents, and families had performed the last rites.

Police say the woman showed signs of being psychopathic and claimed she had hatred or jealousy towards “beautiful girls”, fearing they would grow up to be more attractive than her.

Authorities have informed the relevant police stations for further investigation.
