Dalal said that Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is being implemented in the state since 2016. Under this scheme, barley, maize, cotton, paddy and bajra are being insured in kharif season and wheat, gram, mustard and sunflower crops are being insured in the rabi season.

About 82.59 lakh farmers got their crops insured from kharif 2016 to kharif 2021. Out of them, insurance claim amount of Rs 5,139 crore was distributed to 20.80 lakh farmers till kharif 2021.

He said that premium of Rs 4,800 crore was paid and claims of Rs 5,139 crore were disbursed.

In this way, farmers got an additional benefit of Rs 300 to 400 crore and premium of about Rs 1,500 crore was paid by the farmers.

The Agriculture Minister said that Haryana is one of the few states in the country in which insurance companies have paid claims more than the total premium (which includes farmers’ share, state and central government subsidies).

He said that the department is moving in the direction of collecting data and in this series, today the module of grievance settlement in Meri Fasal-Mera Byora has been started for the redressal of grievances of farmers.
