Residents of Sector-18 of Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran of Jagadhri city are irked by the worsening condition of roads.

Several roads of this sector are dotted with potholes that cause huge inconvenience to residents and other commuters of nearby areas.

The residents have urged the authorities of the Municipal Corporation to start repair and construction work of the roads immediately.

The main road of Sector-18 is in a shambles. Several schools, some colonies of Jagadhri and the office of the District Town and Planner are connected with this road.

“I belong to Sector-17 and go to my school situated near the office of the District and Town Planner using the main road of Sector-18 on a two-wheeler. Due to the bad condition of this road, I find it very difficult to go to school as there is always a fear of falling on this bad road,” said a student. The condition of other roads of this sector is also bad.

“Dust keeps emanating from damaged roads causing a number of health-related problems,” said Narsingh Pal, a social worker and a resident of Sector-18.

“The government claims that good civic facilities of roads, water, sewerage and sanitation are being provided to residents, but that is not true for our sector,” said Narsingh Pal. Another resident of the sector Balwinder Singh said sometimes two-wheelers slipped on these roads leading to accidents.

“The concerned departments should pay immediate attention to the repair of these roads,” said Balwinder Singh.

Madan Chauhan, Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri, said there were two parts of Sector-18. He said part-I came under the Municipal Corporation and the part-II fell under Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran. “The road repair work in part-I will be started soon,” he said.
