A live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme for farmers faced disruption in the Rania grain market of Sirsa district on Saturday due to alleged poor arrangements. The event, which was set up with LCD screens, tents and chairs, was interrupted for around 30 minutes as the power supply went off. With no backup system in place, the LCD screen shut down, and the broadcast could not continue. Only a small number of people attended the event.
Local BJP leaders arrived at the venue in two groups, highlighting alleged internal divisions in the party.
Former district BJP president Shishpal Kamboj warned the Market Committee officials over the “poor management”. However, Marketing Board officials denied any power failure and said they were only checking some systems.
Meanwhile, Kamboj praised Prime Minister Modi’s announcements, saying he had launched over 1,100 projects worth more than Rs 42,000 crore for farmers. He added that after reducing the GST rates, this was another major gift to the nation during the festival season.
