The Electricity Employees Federation of India (EEFI) and the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) will organise the anti-privatisation day on December 13 against privatisation of power sector in the country.
Subhash Lamba, vice-president of the EEFI, said here today the people of Chandigarh and adjacent states would hold a public rally on December 25 in Chandigarh to oppose this anti-people move of the UT Administration to privatise the power sector in Chandigarh.
He claimed that the solidarity was coming from all other sections of government employees, citizens and farmers against the privatisation of the power sector.
Along with Chandigarh, similar attacks of privatisation had been unleashed on Agra and Varanasi public distribution companies of Uttar Pradesh. The UP Government has already imposed ESMA and ban against any form of public demonstration.
The EEFI has called upon all power sector employees to stand in solidarity with the struggling power workers. Any privatisation move will be fought with fullest strength, Lamba added.
