Power workers protest ‘sudden’ transfer of two junior engineers in Sirsa
Were relieved from duty “without explanation”
Employees of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), city subdivision, in Sirsa continued their protest on Friday after two junior engineers (JEs), Rajesh Kumar and Madan Lal, were relieved from duty “without explanation”, sparking anger among staff, including union leaders.
Haryana State Electricity Board Workers Union representatives said the local administration had removed both engineers without any complaint or reason. The workers alleged that the move was driven by personal bias and administrative pressure.
Despite repeated appeals and a warning letter issued by the union on October 1, officials have not addressed the matter. “The administration’s silence shows that they are testing the patience of the employees,” said a union leader at the protest site. Union officials met SDO Ramesh Kumar, seeking clarification, but said his response was unsatisfactory.
They have demanded immediate reinstatement of both engineers and warned that the protest would intensify if their demands are ignored.
Several employee representatives joined the protest, including circle secretary Satinder Monga, unit secretary Suresh Mangal, former unit head Devilal Birda, city unit head Sitaram Soni, sub-urban unit head Manoj Kumar, city sub-unit secretary Rai Singh, sub-urban unit secretary Shyamlal, vice-president Satdev Vats, and senior staff Kuldeep Soni, Rakesh Kumar, Neeraj, Surender Poonia, and Umashankar.
Foremen and linemen from various sub-divisions also participated in the demonstration.
