According to a complaint by Mohan Lal, a resident of Bhattu Kalan, his two daughters, Anju (21) and Nisha, were married to Sandeep and Sunil of Roopawas village in Sirsa on November 25, 2024.

His younger daughter, Nisha, had been staying at Mohan Lal’s home in Bhattu Kalan for the past 15 days.

Anju, a final-year BA student at Government College for Women, Sirsa, went to college last Friday, and returned home at around 2 pm.

When she did not come downstairs by 5 pm, her husband, Sandeep, went upstairs, and found her hanging from a ceiling fan.

Mohan Lal and his family were informed at around 6.15 pm, and they rushed her to the hospital, where she was declared dead.

In his complaint, Mohan Lal claimed that his daughter’s husband, Sandip, and mother-in-law, Kamla, had been preventing her from attending college, which he believes led her to take the extreme step.

He said Anju was pregnant at the time of her death.

The police are examining the deceased’s mobile phone and other evidence.

They have also recorded statements of her family members. Inspector Sukhdev Singh of the Nathusari Chopta police station said no arrests had been made yet.
