Preparations in full swing for Amit Shah’s Kurukshetra event
14-member panel formed to oversee arrangements, coordination
Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Dr Sumita Misra on Monday reviewed arrangements for the October 3 exhibition in Kurukshetra where Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate a showcase on the newly implemented criminal laws.
Emphasising the need for “foolproof security and logistical arrangements”, Dr Misra said the exhibition would be “one of its kind and serve as a powerful platform to create widespread awareness about the benefits of the new criminal laws in a highly innovative and engaging manner.”
Chairing a meeting of senior officers at the Kurukshetra Development Board, she directed officials to ensure meticulous planning and close coordination. “The event is of national importance,” she said, while issuing guidelines for the exhibition and inauguration ceremony.
The five-day exhibition will highlight major reforms in the criminal justice system, enabling advocates, students, parents, and citizens to understand the changes. Dr Misra asked the Deputy Commissioner to designate IAS and HCS officers for overall coordination and stressed that law and order be “rigorously monitored at every stage” for smooth conduct.
A 14-member committee under IG Ambala Range Pankaj Nain has been set up to oversee planning, security, and execution. Dr Misra underlined that the main objective was to “educate citizens about the significant reforms introduced in the country’s criminal justice system and ensure active public participation in this historic initiative.”
She added that Haryana was “the frontrunner state in implementing the three new criminal laws.”
Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Neena, SP Kurukshetra Nitish Agarwal and other senior officers also attended the review meeting.
