To ensure a smooth three-day International Gita Mahotsav in Canada, a three-member team of the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) is making preparations.

Received good response

We have met Canada India Foundation members and representatives of 50 other outfits. We have also received a good response from the Consulate General of India and the High Commission of India in Canada. Madan Mohan Chhabra, Honorary Secy, Kurukshetra Development Board

The mahotsav is scheduled to be held from September 16-18. The mahotsav in Canada will be its third edition in a foreign country. Before Canada, the mahotsav was celebrated in London and Mauritius in 2019. Another event was planned in Australia, but it was cancelled due to Covid.

The three members visiting Canada to manage preparations are KDB honorary secretary Madan Mohan Chhabra, CEO Chanderkant Kataria and member Upender Singhal. The panel will stay in Canada till July 18.

A poster of the event has also been launched there.

As per information, a delegation of 125 people, including board officials, saints and followers of the Bhagavad Gita from India, will reach Canada for the mahotsav.

Talking to The Tribune, Chhabra said: “We are in Canada to look after the preparations and ensure that the event goes smoothly. A delegation from India will arrive here on September 16.”

An event is being organised in Ottawa on September 16, a seminar in the Greater Toronto area on September 17 and a shobha yatra in Downtown Toronto on September 18.

There’s also a plan to install the Bhagavad Gita at an important place in Ottawa.

“We have met members of the Canada India Foundation, VHP Canada and representatives of 50 other associations and temples. We have also received a good response from the Consulate General of India and the High Commission of India in Canada,” Chhabra added.

“We have visited all locations where the events will be held. The government and the board have been working hard to promote the Bhagavad Gita and Kurukshetra on a global level,” he said.
