Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, who is the chief administrator of the mela, recently performed a puja on the banks of the sacred Shri Surajkund sarovar on the mela premises. Holy water brought from Kailash Mansarovar was poured into the Surajkund sarovar.

The DC said preparations for the mela were in the final stage. Cleanliness work had been completed for the convenience of pilgrims, and regular sprinkling of water would be done on roads to prevent dust, he added.

“To facilitate smooth movement, e-rickshaw services will operate from Vyaspur to the mela venue. The Transport Department is arranging extra buses to ensure easy access for pilgrims arriving from various parts of the state,” said the DC. The Electricity Department had installed new poles and transformers in the mela area, he added.

“Permanent LED lighting has been set up around the three sacred sarovars — Kapal Mochan, Rin Mochan, and Surajkund — ensuring adequate lighting throughout the day and night,” Gupta said. In addition to the deployment of police personnel, over 100 CCTV cameras and a drone surveillance system would be used to keep a close watch over the entire mela area, he added.

He said, for pilgrims’ convenience, the mela would also have permanent and temporary toilets, drinking water facilities, medical camps, adequate availability of food, proper barricading, road repair, and well-coordinated police arrangements, all of which were being completed on schedule. He said volunteer teams would be deployed to assist devotees.

SDM Jaspal Singh Gill, the mela administrator, said various departments would set up exhibition stalls during the mela, highlighting the state government’s public welfare schemes and achievements.
