Accusing the BJP government of adopting an indifferent attitude towards private schools and their students, the Federation of Private Schools Welfare Association today served a 10-day ultimatum on the government and threatened to oppose the BJP in the Assembly election if their demands are not accepted by August 20.

The federation has raised the demand for education vouchers of Rs 5,000 per child through Direct Benefit Transfer for students studying in private schools, School Safety Act, school finance corporation to provide loans to schools and scholarships for students at a ‘Shikshak Mahaakrosh Rally’ held in Ambala City on Saturday.

Private school operators from various districts of Haryana had reached Ambala to attend the rally. The federation has submitted a 55-point demand charter to DDPO for Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Addressing the teachers and private school operators, association president Kulbhushan Sharma said, “The BJP in 2014 had assured to resolve all the issues related to private schools after forming the government but it has been 10 years and our issues and genuine demands are still pending. Private school operators are being accused of not teaching the children belonging to economically weaker sections but the fact is that the government is yet to clear the dues of over Rs 1,000 crore of private schools for teaching children under Rule 134-A of Haryana School Education Rules.
