Process of shifting vendors in 3 newly developed vending zones begins in Y’nagar, Jagadhri
The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has started the process of shifting vendors in three newly developed vending zones in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.
This initiative of the MCYJ will help in solving the problem of traffic jams in the twin cities. According to information, the MCYJ has allotted booths to the street vendors in all three street vending zones situated near Ganesh Market (near Sector 17 of Jagadhri), near Prakash chowk in Jagadhri and near Jabbiwala Gurudwara in Model Town of Yamunanagar.
On the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha, the teams lead by Sanitation Inspector Amit Kamboj and Gopal Bakshi instructed the street vendors to shift to the vending zone soon.
“If the street vendors do not shift to the vending zones themselves, the MCYJ will shift them,” said Kamboj.
According to information, as many as 196 booths are ready for street vendors in the vending zone of Ganesh Market, 44 booths in vending zone of Prakash Chowk and 96 booths in vending zone of Jabbiwala Gurdwara.
“Parking, water, light, toilets and other arrangements have been made in all these three vending zones. Sheds have been made above the booths to protect the vendors from rain and sun,” said Kamboj.
He said there was a provision of taps at the vending zone for drinking water and a provision of dustbins to throw garbage.
“Under the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, the street vendors/hawkers, who have street vending certificates and licences, have been allotted booths as per the rules of the vending zone. Now the process of shifting them in these vending zones is being implemented,” said Kamboj.
As per available information, a large number of carts/rehris and stalls are set up on various roads in the twin cities, including at Jagadhri 's Prakash Chowk, bus stand, old railway road, Civil Lines, Main Bazaar of Jagadhri, Khera Bazaar, Buria Chowk, Model Town, Workshop Road, Santpura Road, Nehru park area, Ambala Road and Court Road.
“The shifting of carts/rehris to the vending zones will provide relief to commuters from traffic jams on the roads and markets of the twin cities,” said Kamboj.
