Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the process to extend cashless medical facilities to media professionals is currently underway and will be implemented soon. The CM gave this assurance while interacting with a delegation of the Haryana Union of Working Journalists (HUWJ), led by its president Manmohan Kathuria, during his visit to Rohtak on Sunday.

The delegation submitted a memorandum urging the CM to expedite the implementation of his earlier announcement regarding the provision of cashless medical services to mediapersons across the state. Saini acknowledged the contribution of mediapersons and reiterated his government’s commitment to their welfare.

In the memorandum, the HUWJ reminded the CM of his commitment made during the union’s annual convention held in Rohtak on May 30. Three months had passed since the announcement was made, but no official notification was issued to provide the cashless facility, leaving journalists without the promised healthcare relief, he union rued.

“We have urged the CM to issue the notification at the earliest so that working journalists can benefit from cashless medical services, just like government employees. Media professionals face significant health risks, and this facility will be a major relief for them,” said

Manmohan Kathuria.

The union also reiterated its long-standing demand for granting pension-holder journalists an inflation-linked increment similar to those given to government employees.

“The pension application and verification process should be made simpler and faster. It has been noticed that many applications remain pending for months due to delays at the headquarter level,” said Kathuria.
