Progressive farmer Subhash wins 1st prize at Krishi Mela
A progressive farmer Subhash Kamboj of Hafizpur village in Yamunanagar district has won the first prize at Krishi Mela (Agriculture fair) organised at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar.
He was given the award by chief guest Dr Vinod Kumar Verma, Vice Chancellor of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar, for doing the business of beekeeping along with agriculture.
The award was given in the presence of Professor BR Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor of the CCSHAU, Hisar.
Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta congratulated and wished Subhash Kamboj on winning the first prize.
He said farmer Subhash also motivated other farmers to move ahead in this direction and bring glory to the district and the state in the country.
“The government is providing ample facilities to farmers, taking advantage of which they can bring glory to their district and state,” said Parth Gupta.
Subhash Kamboj said he started the business of beekeeping in 1996 with just six boxes.
He said that now he had about 2,000 boxes of bees and he had also set up a honey processing unit in the village.
He said that today he was producing 120-130 tonnes of honey every year and marketing it himself.
“I am preparing 23 varieties of honey and five other products. I have given employment to 20 persons,” said Kamboj.
In the 75th and 99th episodes of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had discussed his business with him.
During the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Subhash Kamboj remained the special guest of the PM for four days in April-2023.
He was awarded the Millionaire Farmer Award and the award was given to him by the Ambassador of Brazil.
In 2017, the then Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar also honoured him for his remarkable contribution in the field of beekeeping.
He said that apart from this he had also been honoured by Agriculture University, Hisar; Agriculture University, Udaipur; Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Damla, District Horticulture Department and the District Administration.
