Ambala, July 31
A delegation of employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM), who have been on strike for the past few days, met state Health Minister Dr Kamal Gupta who was here today. They raised their demand for the regularisation of the jobs with him.
The employees said they had been working with the Health Department since 1998. They said they had played a crucial role in improving the healthcare services in the state but still the government was indifferent towards their demands. The employees have been on strike for six days and they said that it would continue till their demand is met.
Dr Sunil Hari, who led the delegation, said, “The employees have been performing their duties diligently in every situation but they feel there is no job security even after working with the department for so many years. The wage disparity needs to be addressed and the jobs should be regularised. The employees are forced to give the call of strike to raise their genuine demands. We have submitted a memorandum to the Health Minister and have requested him to take favourable steps in the interest of the employees.”
After meeting the employees, minister Kamal Gupta said that all problems could be resolved through dialogue.
“They (employees) are our own people and we are holding a dialogue with them. The issue will be resolved soon and the strike will be over in a day or two. The Haryana State Chemists and Druggists Association has also raised some issues. Solutions to their problems will also be found soon for which directions have been issued to the officials concerned,” he said. — TNS
