Psycho-killer woman booked in third case

The Gohana police have registered a case against psycho-killer Poonam -- on the complaint of her husband -- for murdering two children, including her own son Shubham, in 2023. This is the third murder case against her.

She was arrested by the Panipat police for allegedly murdering a six-year-old girl Vidhi on Wednesday. The Panipat police had filed another case for the murder of Jia who was the daughter of Poonam’s cousin Deepak.

Navin of Bhawar village in Gohana area and husband of Poonam, in his complaint to the Baroda police, said he married Poonam of Sewah village of Panipat on May 15, 2019.

His elder sister Pinki was already married to Satish of Gangana village. Pinki, along with his niece, 11-year-old Ishika, had come to his house in Bhawar village during the winter vacation in 2023. Navin further said that Ishika and his three-year-old son Shubham were found dead in a water tank in the adjoining house of his uncle on January 12, 2023.

When they tried to conduct the post-mortem examination of the deceased, Poonam threatened that if post-mortem examination of Shubham was done, she would kill herself.

So, the family cremated Shubham at Bhawar village and Ishika’s cremation was held at Gangana village.

But when Poonam was arrested by Panipat police allegedly for murdering his cousin’s daughter Vidhi by drowning in a water tub, it was revealed that she had earlier murdered Shubham and Ishika by drowning.

Bharati Dabas, DCP, Gohana, said that a case has been registered against Poonam under Section 302, 201 of the IPC on the complaint of Navin for murdering the two children by drowning two years ago.

Poonam has already been arrested by Panipat police and is in judicial custody. “We will bring her on production warrant from Panipat and will investigate the matter,” the DCP added.
