Purpose of no-confidence motion achieved: Bhupinder Singh Hooda
Chandigarh, March 10
Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday said the purpose of the no-confidence motion had been achieved as the government was exposed before the people.
“The JJP and Independent MLAs had the chance to vote for farmers and fulfil their responsibility to be people’s representatives. Though the Congress had limited strength, we stood firmly with farmers and fulfilled our responsibility,” he said.
“We voted against the government which lathi-charged farmers, fired tear gas shells, used water cannons and implicated them in false cases. The Congress will continue to stand firmly in support of farmers,” he said. The Congress had demanded secret voting, but the Speaker turned down this demand, he stated. “This clearly shows that the government feared that many of its MLAs might vote in support of the motion,” he added.
State Congress chief Kumari Selja said voting on the no-confidence motion had exposed the MLAs who used to claim that they were standing with farmers. “People of the state will never forget them,” she said. —TNS
