With more and more people becoming anxious and apprehensive of being gripped by Covid and facing lack of medical facilities, experts in mental health have advised them to maintain regular physical activity, pursue their creative interests and interact more with family and friends.
“The pandemic can be defeated with a positive mindset. Instead of seeing it as a disaster, we can take it as an opportunity to interact with our families and pursue our creative interests or hobbies,” says Dr Hitesh Khurana, psychiatry professor at the PGIMS.
Dr Khurana says one should not spend too much time on smartphones or social media, but utilise it for some positive and constructive purpose like reading, writing or re-constructing bonds with our family members and friends.
“We don’t need so much news that is now available to us at any given time through various media. Hence, we should stay away from the sources of news as the continuous bombardment of information can lead to infodemic.”
Dr Devender Sangwan, a consultant psychiatrist, says apart from pursuing hobbies, maintaining physical activity at home and social distancing outside are also must. — TNS
